Donate to a Maryland bird rescue.

Your generous donations help us provide shelter, food, and medical care for rescued birds in need. Together, we can make a difference in their lives. Every contribution counts and goes directly to helping our feathered friends. Thank you for your support!

Two ways to give

Give once, or give every month.

Mid Atlantic Bird Rescue is an approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every contribution counts and goes directly to shelter, food and medical care for the birds.

One-time gift

Give once

Any amount, any time. A single gift helps with food, housing and vet care for the birds in our care right now.

Monthly gift

Sponsor a bird every month

A monthly gift is the steadiest help a rescue can get. It covers the everyday care of a bird while they wait for the right family, and you can stop any time.

Questions

Giving, asked and answered.

Where does the money go?

Shelter, food and medical care for the birds: cages and perches, pellets, seed and fresh produce, and vet visits and treatment for rescued birds in need.

Is the rescue a registered charity?

Yes. Mid Atlantic Bird Rescue is an approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 41-3540867, in Salisbury, Maryland. Keep your receipt for your records.

Can I stop a monthly gift?

Yes, any time. A monthly gift covers the everyday care of a bird while they wait for the right family, for as long as you choose to give.

Can I give supplies instead of money?

Yes. Text Amanda at 302-864-5543 and she will tell you what the birds need this month, or ask about giving by check.

Why a bird rescue needs steady money more than big money.

Birds stay a long time

A dog rescue turns over in weeks. A parrot can wait months for the right home, and some of the birds in our care are not ready for one yet. Every one of those months is food, housing and attention, whether or not a donation came in.

Vet bills are not planned

Birds hide illness until they cannot, and the bird that arrives with a problem nobody mentioned is the rule, not the exception. Avian vets are specialists, and a specialist’s bill arrives on its own schedule.

A monthly gift is a budget

Ten people giving a little every month is something a rescue can plan around. One large gift is wonderful and spent in a season. That is why the monthly option exists, and why you can stop it any time without a phone call.

What is not money

A shared bird page that finds a home, a school that books a visit, a family that adopts instead of buying: each one is worth more to the birds than a check. Give what you can, and tell the bird person you know about us.

Every dollar given here goes to the birds. There is no office, no salary and no fundraising company taking a share: the rescue is run from Amanda’s home, which is also why visits are by appointment. If you would rather give something than send money, text first and ask what the birds are short of this month, because the wrong pellets sit in a cupboard and the right ones are gone in a week. And if you cannot give at all right now, the newsletter and a shared bird page cost nothing and find homes.

A note on what a gift is not. It is not an adoption fee, and it does not move an application up the list: every family is matched to a bird on the bird’s terms, whether or not they have ever given a dollar. It is not a membership and it comes with no mailing except the newsletter you choose. It is food, housing and a vet when a bird needs one, and a receipt from a registered 501(c)(3) for your records.

Other ways to help

Not every gift is money.

Adopt

The best gift a rescued bird can get is a forever home. Meet the birds.

Share a bird

Every bird has its own page. Share it with the bird person you know: that is how most matches start.
